When did you start playing volleyball?

I started playing indoor volleyball in second or third grade and beach when I was in 8th grade.

Why did you make the switch to beach volleyball?

I liked it better honestly. I like how you can control how you play in the sand. In indoor volleyball you can do your part really well but it doesn’t mean that you’re always going to win. I like the partnership aspect.

What did you think the first time you stepped on the sand?

The first time I stepped on the sand I was in 8th grade and my dad took me to a small Friday clinic. I didn’t know what to expect and I hated it when I first started. I was tiny and not strong enough. My growth spurt helped, and when I started to understand the strategy and partnerships of the sport it made it much more fun.

Where do you train and what do you do to stay in shape?

I train at Ohio Valley Beach, at Grand Sand in Cincinnati Ohio and lift and work out twice a week at Academy of Sports Performance.

What pre-match rituals, habits, or superstitions do you have to do before you play?

I don’t really have any, but I make sure I drink one full water bottle before every match. Especially when I am outside. Occasionally I like to listen to music but usually I just show up and I’m ready to go!

Who or what inspires you to play well every time you step on the sand?

My grandma, she passed away last April. She inspires me because she lived her life to the fullest and I think of how she never gave up in anything she did. I think of her a lot and want to honor her by doing my best every day.

What is your favorite thing to do in your down time outside of school and volleyball?

I love art. I have been artistic my whole life so I enjoy drawing and painting a lot. I am also a pretty social person, so hanging out with friends is the best.

Give us one weird fact about yourself!

My favorite pre game snack is pickles!
