Role: Executive Director

Overview

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for p1440’s staff, programs, expansion and execution of its mission. Our mission is to empower the greatness within each person as they pursue their highest potential on and off the court. We aim to inspire and empower by helping our community to develop themselves - body, mind and spirit - through our premier live and digital offerings and through our powerful, engaged, and playfully serious community programming.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT:

  • Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Actively engage and energize p1440 members, regional partners, strategic partners and sponsors
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain p1440’s high-performance senior management team
  • Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
  • Own Client and Community Relations and Communications

STRATEGIC PLANNING:

  • Work with the board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
  • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that ongoing programs support p1440 for the long term and will successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of p1440’s mission by overseeing the public face of the company through the website, social media, and other digital avenues, as well as through client and community outreach and communications.

SPONSORSHIP, VENDOR, AND PARTNER RELATIONS

  • Work with Kerri to drive corporate sponsorships to support p1440 events
  • Drive ownership of vendor and partner relationships to best support events and digital integration

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND VIABILITY

  • Develop and maintain resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Responsible for raising funds through sponsorship and maintaining and developing additional revenue necessary to support the p1440 mission.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the organization, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.

BOARD COMMUNICATION AND GOVERNANCE

  • Work with board in order to fulfill the organization mission
  • Responsible for leading in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Qualifications

The ED will be thoroughly committed to p1440’s mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Specific requirements include:

  • Preferably, non-profit leadership experience
  • Preferably, an MBA with at least 10 years of senior management experience; track record of effectively leading and regionally and/or nationally scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, self-directed and a heart of service.
  • Preferably, a love of sports, a desire to develop and grow all things p1440 and the passion to make a difference.
