Summer Program Lead - Los Angeles

Overview

p1440 is seeking instructors for its p1440 Gives Back Summer Programs – June through August 2023. Our p1440 Gives Back Summer Programs will provide elementary and middle school students with a unique introduction to the beach volleyball and other leadership and life skills. Applicants must reside in the Los Angeles, CA area and have a reliable mode of transportation.

This is an in-person program.  This is an exciting paid opportunity for a dynamic teacher, instructor, coach or educational advocate to learn p1440’s coaching curriculum and teach local students. Instructors will teach part-time 5 days/20 hours per week. Instructors will oversee a group of 1:10 coach:student ratio during summer program. Camps will run 6 weeks beginning the week of June 19, 2023.

The ideal candidates will have volleyball coaching or physical education experience with grades 5-8.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Instructing p1440 curriculum to elementary and middle school students during summer program
  • Facilitating enrichment activities outside of the classroom for a unique teaching and physical activity-based learning experience
  • Collaborating with p1440 staff on daily logistics associated with the summer programs (e.g. permission slips, attendance, etc.)
  • Keeping student performance notes and documentation
  • Cleaning and organizing program areas, set-up and breakdown of equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coaching or teaching experience Exceptional communication skills
  • Experience working with middle school and elementary school
  • Ability to perform physical activities for 2-3 hours at a time including, but not limited to walking, jumping, standing, lifting, throwing and stretching
  • Ability to follow a curriculum and work with p1440’s program partners to achieve programming goals
  • Basic computer skillsAbility to be on your feet in an active environment for 4 hours per day

 

Requirements

  • CPR Certified
  • Pass a background check
  • Complete SafeSport Training
  • Attend Virtual p1440 Onboarding
  • Attend Virtual Program Specific Curriculum Training  

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
