A little bit about Kamden
I'm Kamden Mitchell, a 14-year-old freshman at Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis, Oregon. When I'm not playing beach volleyball, I enjoy training for indoor volleyball and basketball.
You can also find me hanging in the barn with my horse Zoey or hanging with my friends.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words:
Four fabulous questions…
How would you change the world?
Empathy is a quality in my character that can change the world. I try to practice empathy, whether on the court, at school or hanging with friends. For me, this means hearing others’ perspectives, putting biases aside, and meeting people where they are.
What’s your superpower?
Perseverance. I was born mentally tough and full of determination.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
I was lucky to meet and have a conversation with USA Beach Pro and AVP Champ Whitney Pavlik. Whitney encouraged me to develop a solid pre-game routine that prepares my mind and body for competition. I have enjoyed the process, and I'm reaping the benefits. Pre-game preparation takes discipline, and discipline is the bridge between my beach volleyball goals and my success.
How would you like to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as a girl who always smiled and could brighten anyone's day.
